A Day in the Life...

This past week in England has been.. well.. dreamy. We spent the weekend on an excursion to Stonehenge, Salisbury, Stourhead, and Bath.

Stonehenge. Big rocks, good fun. Pretty much how a person would imagine it.. I mean, if a person were to imagine Stonehenge I guess?

Salisbury. My most favorite Cathedral. I know that may sounds strange seeing as we've been to the big ones (aka Notre Dame, St. Peters, St. Pauls, etc.)  but Salisbury was the most fascinating to me. The beauty wasn't full of the mind-blowing stain glass windows and ceilings full of painted masterpieces, but it was simple and interesting and the tour was capturing. The town of Salisbury was the epitome of quaint.

Stourhead. Okay, I know that every day and every place becomes my most favorite day and place on earth. But really, Stourhead is basically unbeatable. It is where Pride and Prejudice was filmed and I can see why. The gardens, the lake, the grottos, the architecture. GOOD HEAVENS. We were giddy as we prepared to spend a day in the lives of Darcy and Elizabeth. And not to worry- the weather completed our perfect day. As we made our way towards those pillars filmed in the infamous proposal scene, it started pouring rain, making it possible to fully capture those enchanting moments in the film. This past week we read and studied this beautifully romantic novel, followed with a girls' night to watch the film, which made this weekend even more memorable. We frolicked and took pictures and re-enacted Ms. Elizabeth Bennett and watched the swans and wondered if we were in a dream.

Bath. A.k.a Jane Austen town. Such a lovely English town full of good shopping and yummy food. (hellloooo chicken skewers and pastry shop and gelato milkshakes. Yep, we are definitely more like a group of teenage boys. We. can. put. away. food.) We toured the Jane Austen Centre, dressed up in hilarious Victorian costumes, and took a family portait, trying with everything in us to not giggle for those 3 seconds. We also toured the fashion museum, gazing in awe at the different fashions from various centuries. The most dazzling, in my opinion, was the black evening gowns of the 1920s. After strolling the museum, we made our way to the Roman baths. We imagined ourselves to be Romans, living centuries ago, and coming for a day at the "spa." I'm sure it was a luxurious treat at the time, but now they advise you to just admire the water from afar, being sure to not touch it. I don't think I'd want to anyways, it's pretty sketchy Roman water. Pretty incredible though.

After our lovely weekend in the English countryside, back to London. I know I've only been a Londoner for a few weeks now, but I can't help but let out a sigh of happiness whenever we return home to London. It's officially home sweet home. We spent our Monday enjoying the town. Shopping at the Oxford Street Primark, then heading to Camden market for the day. Camden market is the coolest. A massive street market area with cheap food and clothes and souvenirs. Banana Man, Brazilian churros, Dutch Pancakes, smoothies, crepes, Indian, Mexican, and Chinese food are among our favorite treats. (Again, we're teenage boys.) And they will throw food samples in your face a million times if it means you'll consider looking, yet again, at their specialties. Anyways, Camden is super artsy and lively and we caught it on a super chill day with no crowds and goooood shopping.

We ended our great day with a night on the town. We went to Novello Theatre and saw Mamma Mia. If you know me at all, you know I LOVE Mamma Mia and it's been my dream since I was little to see this play in London. I remember being a little munchkin, hearing my mom's stories of seeing Mamma Mia, and dreaming of the day I would get to see it too. Well, I'm a pretty lucky kid because I have already checked that dream off the bucket list. And boy, was it jaw dropping. I think I had a massive grin plastered on my face from the second the show begun to the second I went to bed that night. So happy, so lively, so much fun. I do have a funny story about this night: So my friends and I are a couple hours early to the show to pick up our tickets. We went behind the theatre to find a Mamma Mia poster to take a picture with. Well, you know how when you have a group of people, someone needs to take the picture, meaning one person won't be in the picture. So Cat is taking our picture by the poster and this guy is just walking down the sidewalk with some groceries. He kindly offers to take our picture so we can all be in it. You know, the usual "that would be awesome, thanks so much!" He takes the group picture for us and tells us to enjoy the show. Super nice guy. Then, he just casually walks into the stage door. All of us: uhhhh.... is he in the show? Then he walks in and out a couple more times and we just get super awkward and stare at him. Yeah, turns out he is one of the lead roles in the show. All of us pretty much die laughing when we see him on stage. HELLLOO... he should've been in our picture, not taking it! But after the show we hung out by the stage door again and were able to meet and get pictures with some other main characters of the cast. The lead male role, Sky, was just chillin out back so we started talking with him and got a picture with him. You could say it was a pretty spectacular evening. I LOVE LONDON.

Cheers to another good week.
