This year, I decided to spend my summer days in Middlebury, Indiana. This town is straight out of a country song. We've got county roads, trucks and rednecks, lakes and boating, carnivals and fairs, and everything in between. And oh, plenty of good ol' country music. After work, I spend my days on our lake. You can usually find me napping on the back porch, splashing my feet in the water while eating a Popsicle, or circling the lake on our paddle boat with the neighbor friends. (by the way, our neighbors are the BEST). We spend our summer nights on the pontoon, BBQing, watching the fireflies flicker, and jamming to our favorite country music. Small town life isn't so bad!
Two highlights from this summer would have to be
1) the 4th of July. You haven't seen a true 4th of July until you've spent it on a lake in Middlebury. Our day was complete with kayaks, canoes, water bikes, pontoons, boat parades, BBQs, sparklers, 'Tangled' lanterns, and the longest, most incredible fireworks show we've ever seen! Nothing like watching a 3 hour fireworks show from the pontoon on the middle of the lake.
2) the Elkhart County Fair.. This fair is a big deal people. We're talking, the biggest county fair in the country. Easily the happiest night of summer. My parents and I ROCKED OUT 10th row at the hunter hayes concert. After the show, we ran around like giddy 5 year olds trying as much fried food and fair treats as we possibly could. Helloooo deep fried cheesecake!! I won't even begin to name all of the food we consumed, lets just say- Elkhart County Fair goes BIG.
So friends, if you need me, I'll be here.. On our lake, enjoying my summer days as a small-town girl in Middlebury.
